From visa application to job hunting after arrival — working holiday prep, step by step.

   4-6 months before: Check Working Holiday Visa eligibility

   Confirm the 18-30 age requirement and annual quota, and check the official INZ application window.

   3-4 months before: Apply & prepare proof of funds

   You'll need proof of return airfare or funds equivalent to NZD 4,200.

   2 months before: Get travel insurance & book flights

   Book flights within your 12-month visa validity window.

   1 month before: Prepare your resume & set aside initial settling-in funds

   Preparing a CV in the local format speeds up job hunting after arrival.

   First week after arrival: IRD number, bank account, SIM card

   An IRD number is required to get paid, so apply for it first.

   Weeks 2-4 after arrival: Job hunting & join the Korean WHV community

   Use job sites like Seek and Backpackerboard alongside the Korean WHV community.
