Family Study Prep Timeline

A step-by-step guide for parents preparing to study in NZ together with their children.

1. 01

   6 months before: Research schools & enquire about enrollment

   Check school zoning and enrollment availability in the area you plan to live.

2. 02

   4-5 months before: Apply for Guardian Visa (parent) & Student Visa (child)

   Once your child has a Student Visa, you can apply for a Guardian Visa to accompany them.

3. 03

   3 months before: Confirm school placement & family accommodation

   Finalize school placement and find family accommodation within commuting distance.

   2 months before: Enroll the whole family in student insurance

   Both the child and accompanying guardian need insurance that meets visa requirements.

5. 05

   First week after arrival: Submit school enrollment documents, set up bank & IRD

   Bring required documents like immunization records and complete basic admin.

6. 06

   First month: Parent meetups & connect with the Korean family community

   Get support and info through school parent groups and the local Korean family community.
