How to Plan Your Budget

How to Plan Your Budget

Planning your budget ahead of time — for study, working holiday, or any move to New Zealand — makes life a lot less stressful later. The KONZI Budget Planner, an external tool linked from KONZI, lets you build a cost scenario in six steps.

Steps (6 total)

  1. Enter basic info: city, study type, length of stay, number of people
  2. Add expense items — flights, housing, food, etc. (set currency and frequency)
  3. Add income items — part-time work, rental income, etc. (optional)
  4. Check and adjust the NZD↔KRW exchange rate
  5. Review initial costs, monthly average, and annual/total cost with graphs
  6. Track actual spending in a budget log and compare against the plan

Main Cost Categories

  • Flights: one-way/round-trip airfare (one-time)
  • Housing: rent (weekly/monthly), bond (one-time), homestay (weekly)
